count down

Count down to blast off…10. I am so excited!

I feel like counting the days to open my presents under the tree.

For me, though, it would be just finding my gifts in the heap of my siblings.

I celebrated Hanukkah and used to believe Christmas was evil. I don’t hold that opinion now, but that’s another story for another time.

This whole month has been a meditation on the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord.

The peace I have really passes understanding.

I am thankful I haven’t interacted with other people so much.

If I were, I would be fighting lots of unbelief, and it wouldn’t be such an unforgettable time.

 God’s promise is true.

It is nice to be trusting the Lord entirely and not man.

Men are not trustworthy. They are like waves in the sea that toss to and fro.

I finished up Deuteronomy today, and God was preparing the people to inherit the Land of promise.

To sum it up, He told them to keep His ways diligently and then recapped what those ways were.

Next, He told them the good that would follow if they followed Him and the evil that would ensue if they served devils.

I didn’t realize how much I love Deuteronomy until today. Reading about what God instructed gives us a peek at His heart. He put so much in place for the fatherless, widow, stranger, and Levite.

He was detailed insofar that He gave instructions to place railings around the roof to protect His people.

And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of thee.

Deuteronomy 28:10

After the instructions, He told Moses they would rebel after they inherited the Land. That must have been very disheartening for Moses to hear, and this is why we can’t “do” anything for people.

We work for the Lord and look to the Lord for our reward. Any other way comes up empty every time.

The Lord then gives Moses a song to teach Israel about bringing heaven and earth as witnesses against them that He means to bless. Still, they turn away and provoke Him to fury, so He turns His face from them and casts them out of the Land, but if they remember the Lord, He will go to the ends of the earth to bring them back and bless them.

Deuteronomy is beautiful, but it is still not the complete picture of the Lord’s goodness without considering Jesus.

Jesus shows us the goodness, blessings, and love He bestowed upon Israel He wants for everyone.

He wants you as His peculiar people separated unto God, and He wants to pour out an abundance of blessings to show the world His goodness and glory.

“For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.”

2 Corinthians 1:20

His Glory

“Unto the glory of God by us.” Remember that He gets glory through fulfilling His promises in your life.

God is better than you can imagine, so keep imagining bigger and better. Meditate on who He is. Get to know your Creator. Don’t just rely on what people tell you. Every time you read through the Bible, you can get a new faucet of who He is. If you let the Holy Spirit talk to you through the Word, it will be like reading it for the first time every time. No one outgrows scripture. No one.
