bondage

When you are in known, practiced sin, it opens the door for consequences; it opens the door for the enemy.

Even when it’s not blatantly obvious, for where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work, for where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

When you are in unforgiveness, you open your heart to bitterness, rancor, and hatred, which places you in bondage and makes your heart grow cold to the things of the Lord.

by grace

When you are seeking healing, you don’t look at your actions to earn the healing because you can’t earn it.

It comes by grace, so it’s an unmerited gift, but it also comes through faith. Your faith becomes effectual by being close and sensitive to God. Faith comes by hearing and works by love.

through faith

This isn’t just hearing with your ears but with your heart.

If you have ever had children, you know that when you try to speak with them, they don’t always hear you.

Their physical ears heard what you said, but it went in one ear and out the other.

Why?

Because they didn’t care.

Their heart wasn’t sensitive to your words and didn’t honor your presence.

We do this with Almighty God and then wonder why things aren’t working out.

You aren’t giving God’s Words and presence in your life their proper place, so your faith is inactive.

It has nothing to do with earning. Rather, when you don’t fear the Lord, you belittle Him and His ways, and your heart can’t see the power of God working in your life, so it never does.

lives laid down

Circling back to having sin in your life, we cannot entertain ourselves with the things for which Christ has died.

When you examine what we are saying when we are in known sin is, I don’t care that You don’t want me to do this; I want to do this, so I’m going to.

This is the case with unforgiveness too.

“I know You want me to forgive, but what they did hurt, so I’m not letting go.

We are putting our desires before Him, and that’s idolatry.

We have to love Him more than we love ourselves.

When we are saved, we don’t just believe He was raised from the dead.

No.

We are laying down our lives for the One who has laid down His.

still death

Though we know that not being in sin doesn’t earn us that which was given by grace, we shouldn’t neglect the truth that when we choose to sin, we are stepping back into the old way with all of its consequences.

Do you not know that whoever you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey, whether of sin unto death or of obedience unto righteousness? – Romans 6:16

The wages of sin are still death.

Grace is not a license to sin and that without consequence.

God can clear you of the effects of your sins if you genuinely repent, but without that repentance, the repercussions remain.

not an excuse

Going to Charis Bible College, I realized many students have the wrong idea of grace.

They wouldn’t take their lessons seriously and skip out on some classes, saying it’s fine. “It’s a grace school.”

Grace empowers you to do what you couldn’t do on your own.

It is not an excuse for misbehavior.

We now have less of an excuse; no, we have no excuse at all.

We have everything we need for life in Godliness, and there are too many people who are misusing grace because of a lack of fear of the Lord.

Thank you for Your love and guidance, Lord. Life is never dull with You!
