Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;

That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

 1 Peter 4:1-2

When you arm yourself you are actively getting something and putting it on in the case of armor or preparing to use it in the case of a weapon.

Jesus talks about not saying or doing anything the Father didn’t show Him to do.

Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

 John 5:19

Focused mind

His mind was focused on the Father and Jesus is our example as this verse confirms when it says to arm yourself with the same mind as our Lord.

I wonder if I could word the verse a little differently it would still hold true… He that enters into the sufferings of Christ dies to sin and is alive to righteousness.

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

1 Peter 4:7

to pray

This verse stood out to me because yesterday I felt pulled to watch one of Joseph Z’s prophecy LIVES.

I had so many other things to do I didn’t really want to sit here and watch it, but I had it on my heart to stay and pray.

I asked in my spirit “Why do I need to be watching this?” and I heard “So you can pray.”

That’s exactly to the point of this verse where it says watch unto prayer.

It doesn’t just say watch because that can drive you crazy. When you watch the news nowadays it’s difficult to not think this is the last day.

Whether it is or it isn’t the very last days Peter says “The end of all things is at hand” so I would go ahead and say it’s even closer to the end than when he said that.

When you do watch and all things in moderation and sobriety, but when you do watch it is with purpose.

You do it to the end that you might pray. Proverbs says the prayers of a righteous man are effectual.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

 – John 5:16

a Stronger Voice

When you feel like you can’t do anything about it what you see and hear can bring you anxiety.

But when the church of Christ lifts up its voices against the wickedness we see trying to take control we can make a difference.

Even one voice can make a difference.

Elijah prayed that it wouldn’t rain and it didn’t rain for three years. He was in an inferior covenant.

We have Jesus within us. We can make a difference if we will be a vessel for the Lord to speak through.
