Discipleship Series – Week 10 – Trusting

Trust is an important component of Faith Since you cannot be fully persuaded in someone or something you don’t trust.

While faith is being fully persuaded trust is having complete confidence. They go hand in hand, and both work by the fundamental law of love.

I struggled with trying to trust God until I learned this truth. Trust isn’t something you can just do; trust is a by-product of love. As the saying goes “love makes the world go round,” and it’s true because God is love.

The world is trying to define love when they don’t have the faintest idea.- Love is love they say…

 Really?

I wonder if they are capable of being more lost.

If you can get a revelation of who God is and how much He loves you, trust and faith will be there. This is how you not only prepare your heart but establish it.

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. – Psalm 143:8

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you when you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. – Isaiah 43:2

The person or thing you trust in is who you will turn to when you are in a hard place.

When you feel anxious, where do you turn to for peace and comfort?

Do you run to the prince of peace or the refrigerator? Do you watch something to make you forget? Does shopping make you feel better? Video games? Friends?

Anything you put your trust in and pull your strength from that’s not God is your idol.

An idol is something we trust in to replace what we can only get from God.

But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace long-suffering, (the ability to go through tough times unruffled.) Gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law. – Gal 5:22-23

These are God qualities, things that we can only get through God. The world can only offer counter-fits. That numbs the pain of not having God.

None of those things deserve your trust; there is only One who is faithful through the ages.

He changes not, and He is worthy of your trust.

He sees your mess but He doesn’t give up on you.

He chooses not to see you as you are but as you could be.

He sees you through the blood of Jesus, clean and transformed by the Word of God.

He is deeply in love with you. He sticks with you thick and thin and leads you to be the best you can be.

I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfect in unity, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me. – John 17:23

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. – Isaiah 41:13

Trust the only One worthy of your trust and confidence. He takes your pain, anxiety, and depression and gives you love, joy, and peace.

Abbie
